A plan of care that identifies the specific needs of the clientKinetic screening of muscles
Clients are not going to say that they have muscle imbalance. But the osteopath can find out if they do by first asking the right questions and then screening the muscles. Kinetic screening allows the osteopath to analyze the fundamental movement capabilities of the patient, while assessing the core primary movements, using a system of dynamic kinetic movement screens or tests.
Therefore, an important factor in preventing injuries and improving performance is to quickly identify deficits in mobility and stability because of their influences on creating altered motor programs throughout the kinetic chain.
The kinetic chain is a term used by most sports medicine and exercise science professionals to describe a sequence or a chain of events that take place in order for a person to move.
For instance, which muscles would be needed to walk, run, throw a ball or even get out of a car. The muscle strength portion of a screening can determine which muscles or group ofmuscles are weak. With this information, multiple assumptions can be made as the client’s pain and or dysfunction. Hip/knee: Weak hip muscles are a cause of multiple problems throughout the kinetic
chain. Hip abductor and external rotation strength are commonly measured becauseof weakness of these muscles has been linked with for instance patellofemoral pain syndrome and chronic lateral ankle sprains.
Muscle imbalances, postural misalignment) and assessed (for strength, endurance, flexibility)
